|G-16 (click on link to see the prototype) . G16 was a larger version of the G12 with a total of 1800 hp and 6-whell Co-Co configration trucks. In the sixties and seventies this locomotive hauled large express passenger trains between Cairo and Alexandria. These locomotives started to disappear in the early eighties with the introduction of the newer versions, the G22, G26. No pictur available of this locomotive with the Egyptian paint scheme.
The model below was built using two G12 Frateschi plastic shells and the under frame of an Atheran U30C. Th cab was built from styrene and the trucks were modified by adding styrene parts to resemble the prototype.
