|MODELING THE EGYPTIAN LOCOMOTIVES|
|Steam Locomotives ( Click on link to see prtotypes) , The first line of a railway was established between 1854 and 1856 to route Cairo and Alexandria. All steam locos which ran in Egypt were almost exclusively manufactured by England . They had several
designs and wheel configuration . The most common steam locomotive was the 2-6-0 built by Nelson & Co in London. Some were also tank design (without a caboose) with 0-4-0, 0-6-0, and
2-6-2 wheel arrangement . Steam trains served for decades until the late 50s when they were replaced gradually by diesel locomotives .
The photos below show some English steam locomotive models that
bare great resemblance to the ones used in Egypt. Many real and model steam locomotives are exhibited at the Egyptian Rail Museum.
